Our Humble Beginnings…
In August 2006, we visited California to vacation with my sister Carol and her husband Dave. We visited all of the usual sites like Disneyland and Mann’s Chinese Theatre as well as playing in the ocean at Venice Beach. Since Venice Beach was known for souvenir shops we decided to stroll down the boardwalk. My wonderful wife of 16 years suggested that we get t-shirts. As we happened upon the t-shirt vendors we were in shock by what was printed or displayed on these shirts. We literally had to turn our children’s eyes away from such inappropriateness. After finally finding our souvenirs shirts I remember say to myself, “God has a much better message and people should know about it.”
Six months later (February, 2007) while at work, I was driving and out of nowhere God’s whispered, “Scripture Apparel”. I pulled over to listen and write. (Habakkuk 2:2 (Amplified Version) -Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.) I had to act on this calling. God showed me the design theme and reminded me of Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” We use thousands of words every day. We repeat phrases or slogans constantly. The vision of Scripture Apparel is simply “Spreading God’s living word, word by word.” Each word in our vocabulary has meaning. Scripture Apparel wants you to know what God says specific words mean (John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God). Each shirt is inspired by the leading of Jesus. (“The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23)
We want you to express yourself through God’s word. God has stood by our family’s side during every step of this process and He will stand by yours when you “witness by happenstance” with our product line.
